Origin
Tolima is the third coffee producing region of Colombia characterised by a very pronounced aroma medium acidity and a sweet and subtle fruity flavour. Tolima coffees have consistently presented exceptional good cup profiles that position them today amongst the best.
History
Finca Monte Verde is an example of successful generational relay, originating with Alejandro Gutiérrez, and passed on to the current third generation under Gildardo Gutiérrez, his grandson. Gildardo, who has lived and raised his kids in Monte Verde during the last 50 years, was the first to introduce varietals with excellent cup potential to the estate. Today, he flourishingly markets his coffee with the help of his two sons, Johan and Newerly, both graded cuppers and the fourth generation to inherit the business. The new generation has encouraged their father to engage in a direct relationship trade with customers in the US.
